IndianStuff – the idea

IndianStuff is an online store that sells Indian lifestyle and culture based products and services worldwide. Indian Books, music, handicrafts, traditional arts, clothes, traditional mouth fresheners- atIndianStuff you can get them all.

IndianStuff is not just an e-commerce website. It is a labour of love for the incredibly rich and diverse Indian civilization which celebrates life and love in all its forms. IndianStuff is also driven by compassion for those artisans who, in this age of automation, are losing their livelihoods and lives. Our traditional craftsmen are now finding it extremely difficult to market their produce. So many have had to abandon their family legacy of crafts and migrate to cities for menial jobs. They lose their traditional livelihood and we lose our age old crafts and traditions.

We need your contributions to help preserve this legacy of beauty. Your support will help us:

  • Preserve our traditional & folk handicrafts by helping the artisans market their products
  • Empower women by showcasing Women’s Self Help Groups products
  • promote IndianStuff worldwide,

The Indian tradition has been to pass down the knowledge, whether intellectual or related with crafts, down the century from generation to generation. As a result, our craft traditions and techniques date back centuries and even today master craftsmen and artisans work with passion and commitment carrying forward the legacy of generations, creating handcrafted products that are unique, exceptional and precious. When we choose to support these handcrafted products, we help keep these traditions alive.

How much do we need and for what?

We need at least $100,000 to build a sustainable online presence and supply chain with an extensive network of artisans within India.

The online store is already in existence for past one year. We have been promoting the store both using Facebook and Google ads and have been able to build a consistent traffic to it. We have also built relationships with well known brands within India and a number of artisans who supply their products to us against confirmed orders.

We need the money to:

  • build a much larger traffic for the website,
  • reach a larger set of artisans and craftsmen from across the country, and
  • continuously upgrade the website with new products and marketing offers.
